Recognition
ATLAS membership raises the profile of your company by identifying you as a member of an elite group of professional and reputable market leaders.
Access to Key Industry Information
ATLAS has developed a number of important relationships with key industry bodies; representatives sit on.
Representation
- NSCC: All ATLAS members have membership of the NSCC (National Specialist Contractors’ Council, www.nscc.org.uk) which brings together a large number of trade federations and associations representing specialist contractors within the construction industry. There are many benefits to ATLAS members of this, and they are covered in more detail in this PDF document
- NJC: The National Joint Council is a formally recognised body comprising of ATLAS and UCATT (the Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians, www.ucatt.org.uk). Together, we work to agree and establish operative wage levels and any proposed changes to the terms and conditions of operatives’ employment in the industry. ATLAS membership affords an avenue to influence these terms and conditions and sets minimum wage rates that all members and non-members alike must adhere to.
Legal Advice
ATLAS members have access to a wealth of legal advice, much either non-chargeable or heavily subsidised, from Wedlake Bell Solicitors who have a wealth of experience as well as a close understanding of our specialist sector within construction. Advice can be sought on a number of areas including; sub-contracts, adjudication, litigation and arbitration disputes, health and safety regulations, collateral warranties, preparation of claims and settlements and any urgent legal problems that may arise on site.
Training
All ATLAS members are also members of its sister association, The Steeplejack and Lightning Protection Training Group (www.atlastraininggroup.org.uk) who work to ensure that the industry's national apprenticeship scheme and qualification system continues to meet the needs of this ever-changing specialist industry. The Training Group continually expands the industry's training opportunities and facilities, in association with the CITB and National Construction College. For further information on this, please see H&S and Training.
Increased Business
As a valuable source of industry knowledge, ATLAS regularly receives enquiries from prospective clients. The Association is frequently asked to provide nationwide details of lightning protection, specialist access and steeplejack companies. Prospective clients have access to our database of member companies through the search facility on this website and member companies have access to main contractors who are members of both the Construction Confederation and the Scottish Building Employers' Federation.
Participation
ATLAS membership offers many opportunities to meet new contacts, exchange views on topical industry items, influence decisions affecting members and the industry, and being at the forefront of new developments in best practice, regulations and news.
Fun!
ATLAS is a vibrant and diverse Association with an active and committed membership. Nevertheless, this specialist industry remains one of the most personable and enjoyable within Construction. The highlight of the ATLAS social calendar is the Half-Yearly meeting, set at a different European location each year, which enables member companies to mix business with pleasure and celebrate their hard work and dedication.
